DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER my husband went to talk to our female vicar about our marriage troubles, he left me for her.
We were always separating after some row, then getting back together. About a year ago he kept saying he needed to talk to somebody, so he made an appointment with our vicar – a woman.

He is 49, I’m 47 and the vicar is 51.
I knew her from doing church flowers but my husband isn’t religious.
He left me six months ago after we’d been together for nearly 20 years and I’ve found out they’re having an affair.
I feel devastated.
She looks old and haggard.
Do you think he’s having a mid-life crisis?
DEIDRE SAYS: Maybe, but putting a label on it doesn’t repair your marriage.
Tell him you need better to understand what has gone wrong between you so you can start to come to terms with losing your marriage.
Maybe you can start to repair some of the damage.
Even if it’s clear you’re over, understanding can begin to help you heal.
Counselling can help you move on.
